About Me
When people ask me how I got started working with dogs, I tell them it wasn’t something I planned—it found me. More than two decades ago, an experienced dog trainer noticed the way I naturally connected with dogs and encouraged me to start a dog walking business. That simple suggestion changed my life and eventually became Happy Dogs.
Today, Happy Dogs has grown almost entirely through referrals from wonderful clients who trust me with their beloved pets. That trust is something I never take for granted.
To me, caring for dogs is about so much more than walking them or stopping by to feed them. Every visit is an opportunity to enrich a dog’s life through exercise, mental stimulation, patience, kindness, and genuine connection. Whether I’m working with an energetic puppy, a shy rescue, or a senior dog who prefers a slower pace, I believe every dog deserves to be treated as an individual and cared for with compassion and respect. Once the dogs get to know me, whether it is a class or a walk, they are ready and waiting.
One of my greatest joys is getting to know each dog’s unique personality. I love helping nervous dogs gain confidence, teaching good manners through positive experiences, and watching dogs become happier because their physical and emotional needs are being met.
I’m also committed to continuing my education so I can provide the highest level of care. I’ve attended professional conferences hosted by the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), and the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS). I’ve completed advanced workshops with respected trainers and behaviorists, including Michael Ellis, Nicole Wilde, and Sue Sternberg.
Before founding Happy Dogs, I spent many years in customer service, where I learned the importance of reliability, communication, and treating people with respect.
